Using jiǒng so much reminds me that I stilil have problems with the 3rd tone's tone sandhi.

Well since it's third tone followed by third tone, shouldn't they all change to rising tones?

So jióng jióng jióng etc.

Or is it more complicated?

Yes. Something about word boundaries. Don't ask me the details, I haven't grasped them well.
