For those who don't know The Michel Thomas program is an audio language teaching program. It generally has nicer reviews than Rosetta Stone on the internet (do you capitalize "internet") so I was wondering what you guys thought? That is if you use/d it.

MT is fantastic. I've learned more in 1 MT German course, than an entire 2 years of German!

What do you mean course? A CD? German Foundation/Builder/Vocabulary/Review? The entire thing?

The one thing I don't like is how harsh I perceive him to be with the two recorded students. Although maybe the harshness helps them retain it.

Yes.

I think it's kinda boring, because the same things are repeated over and over again. I don't really like the "do-not-pay-attention"-philosophy; you learn a lot more if you focus on what you're learning ...

I've never used it, but if I were to use a language learning software I'd use MT.

Yes, each one. I've used the fondations in almost all the languages he offers (except Arabic), and he is just fantastic.

Actually, I see him as a wise old grandpa. I learned more from MT than I did using Pimsleur...

That sounds better, and makes more sense. He does act like a wise grandfather and he doesn't really use angry tones.

I've used two of the 'MT Method' courses - Russian and Japanese. These are courses taught using the same method as those by Michel Thomas himself, but using native speakers of the target languages.

The Russian one is great, and I've learnt a lot from it, but the Japanese one is utter crap.
