What is your Second Language?

Postby dmdiannemorales » Thu 11 Nov 2010 10:08 am

I consider English as my Second Language. Not to mention my native language, English language is a very good idea in reaching other people.

What about yours?

I'm never sure how to answer this question. Spanish is the language I learned second. But even though I learned German later, I speak it much better than Spanish.

Mandarin is my native language, but I came to the US when I was 10 years old. Twenty years later, even though I'm still fluent in Mandarin, I have to admit my English is better mainly because I live in an English-speaking environment.
Fluent: 漢語, English
Learning: tiếng Việt (Chữ Nôm)
Interested: 한국어

Spanish is my second language both in order of learning and fluency, after my native language, English.
Native: English (NW American)
Advanced: Spanish
Intermediate: French
Beginning: Arabic (MSA/Egyptian)
Some day: German

Spanish is my second language, though I have not used it in a very long time.
Although I tried to learn Japanese way back before I ever took a Spanish class, but that doesn't count because I never really got skilled at Japanese, at all.
The language that will probably, in the future, be my second most skilled language is Mandarin, but we'll see how that goes.
Languages, from most fluent to more recent: English, Spanish, French, Japanese, Mandarin.
