Who is actively learning Arabic? Whether a vernacular (عامية) or MSA (فصحى), let's practice Arabic and discuss it!

I was actively learning Arabic til last year, now I only read some things and don't practise too much...=_= I'd like to go to Tunisia to take a summer course at Bourguiba institute which I've heard is quite good.

درست العربية الفصحى للترجمة ولكن تذكرت كثيراً من المفردات لأن أنا في حاجة إلى ممارسة اللغة. من جهة أخرى، لدي بعض الأصدقاء من المغرب وتعجبني الدارجة المغربية الشمالية كثيراً.

I was wondering what kind of Arabic was used during the Middle Ages to write for example works of science. Classical Arabic?

Yes, although it differed somewhat from the Arabic of Qur'anic times - just like today's Modern Standard Arabic - and for that reason it's sometimes given the name Middle Arabic.

Is that from the fourth verbal scheme (على وزن "أفعل")? because I think the first form of this verb in the perfect tense is رأيت.

I once heard that the colloquial Arabic of Damascus is more like the Arabic in the Qur'an than any other colloquial variety. Is there any truth to this?
