Yes. I don't like modern, well not just words but pretty much anything that is modern. Or better yet popular. But I hate slang and idioms from any period.
I have the same tendency to run away from very modern stuff, as well; with words, though, I'm simply drawn to the old ones that seem to me so peculiar and evocative that it's simply a shame they're slipping away from memory. A heron used to be called a "shiterow," which has the same etymological root as "shit"... instead of green you could say "porraceous," resembling the color of a leek... There's something about ancient things.
