Welcome to Omniglot! I think a mini Chinese phrasebook would be great on this forum!

Do you know any Cantonese?

I also think that when it comes to learn "Chinese", too much emphasis is put toward Mandarin instead of the rest of Chinese languages, specially Cantonese...

I personally don't like Mandarin because my brain can't process the tones. (I'm sure I could with the proper help, but I don't like tonal languages.)

Cantonese has more tone contours though.

Then I don't like Cantonese either. I just don't care for tones much.

Well, the other varieties of spoken Chinese are politically & economically insignificant. Mandarin is the sole official language for both the Chinas & is co-official in Singapore. Cantonese has de facto official status in Hong Kong & Macau but that's it.

A lot of newbies are scared of the tones but after a while you would get used to them.

The Shanghainese dialect of Wu doesn't. It does have pitch accent, though.

English is your native language? I think you mean I'm not afraid of anything.

(I know this was probably just a quick mistake)
