秘书:布什。
某:哦,不是,那是谁?
秘书:布什。
某:我知道不是,我问是谁!
秘书:是布什。
某:是,还是不是?到底是谁!
秘书:乔治。华盛顿。布什。
某:我当然知道乔治华盛顿不是,华盛顿早就死了.
告诉我是谁?
秘书: 小布什.
某: 我知道肖不是,我也知道华盛顿不是,
我没问你谁不是,我问你谁是
秘书: 头儿,我说的,是布什,不是"不是".
某: 是不是,不是不是???你想让我发疯吗?

P: Is it (shi), or is it not (bu-shi)? Who is it?

P: Of course I know Geowge Washington is not (bu-shi). He's passed away ages ago. Tell me who it is!
S: Small Bush (xiao-bu-shi)
P: I know that Xiao is not (bu-shi), Washington is not (bu-shi) either, I kaven't asked you who is not (bu-shi), I asked you who is (shi)
S: Sir, what I said was Bush (bu-shi), and not "is not" (bu-shi).
P: Is it "bu-shi" or is it not "bu-shi"? do you want to drive me mad?
S: No no, what I said was "it is Bush, and not 'is not'" (shi bu-shi, bushi "bushi"), and not "it is 'it's not' it's not 'it's not'" (shi bushi, bushi bushi).
P: Okay, okay, you can go now, I'm already mad.

But if it was in Cantonese or Min, there would be no such confusion.

That's funny. :D
But can't they come up with a better way to say "Bush" than "is not"? Adjust the tones a little or something? Using "is not" for "Bush" is asking for trouble.

@Tikolm, the tones are bu4 shi2 for 'Bush', and bu2 shi4 for 'is not'.

Nonnative speakers often have difficulty with Mandarin tones. I can testify from experience.
