Hi everyone. I was directed to this site by a friend who thought i might get answers. Recently, while serving in Afghanistan, I came across a rifle. This rifle is an Afghan version of a British Martini-Henry breech loader. The Brits established an armory in Mazaar-I-Sharif and this rifle, based on the stamp above the text, is indicative of its point of origin.
Underneath the armory stamp is a scrip that i do not recognize. I had a Pashtu/Farsi speaking friend look and could not identify it, but guessed that it was some sort of hebrew or aramaic. I think it might be in Syriac script? Below is a photo of one such rifle. I am trying to uncover the history of these quickly disappearing relics.
Best Regards,
johnny
