I've been working on multiple colangs and I need help with one. I need help figuring out the structure of all of the chinese dialects. One of the colangs I am working on takes most of it's word from Taiwanese, Cantonese, Mandarin, and Shanghainese. I need help with making the tones easier to pronounce. Any ideas?
(oh and i need help with what the tones sound like. not a recording but maybe like how we use them in english to show emphasis or something. THanx)

Easier to pronounce than Shanghainese? Shanghainese really only has two tonal distinctions that matter. Otherwise the tone contours are 100% predictable based on the number of syllables, what the initial sound is, and what the final sound is.

Now I don't want to learn Singhainese, but wold you mind please telling me how this tone thing works?

In the Chinese languages, tone is phonemic. For example, in Mandarin:

mao(1) = cat
mao(2) = hair or fur, and is also the Mao of Mao Zedong.

So can any one help me understand the shanghainese time system and how it is predictable. Wikipedia was useless.

It's certain to be "useless" if you don't understand phonetic terminology like "phonemic", "voiced initial", and "glottal stop". Do you?

I now voiced initial and and what not I do not however know what glottal stop is. Is that where you make a sudden stop with your voice?

Basically. It's often described as the sound dividing the two vowels in "uh oh". In Shanghainese, it's the only oral stop that can occur in final position.
