Finnish? If I just knew how Finnish sounds... xD (Me and my lack of affection toward Europe.)
I think it sounds pretty, very melodious with a heavy emphasis on pure vowel sounds. But don't take my word for it - go here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Finnish_phonology

And the Finnish national anthem: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KSlAuPOUew4

There's also a recording of the Finnish UDHR on the actual Omniglot website. Link: http://www.omniglot.com/writing/finnish.htm

From what I remember, Omni was supposed to have a simple phonology and orthography, and Finnish has vowel harmony and other fun features. But it's your language to do with as you will.

Omni can have what makes Finnish sound Finnish (e.g. stress on the first syllable, not many consonants grouped together etc., kind of hard to explain) but it doesn't have to share vowel harmony or the sounds. Basically, Omni can have the spirit of Finnish without the body.

I agree with Kietl. I think the best way to make this would be to have each one freely add things into the language, and usage will tell which features stay and which ones pass.

We can have the 'core' at the wiki, with basic information and a guide to the starters.

A dictionary of 'accepted' and 'suggested' words would be available. One could suggest a word as it sees fit, and others can argue if it is needed or not. Or there might be more openness to creation, allowing anyone to drop anything and let the users of the language decide.

We could collect every piece of information we have until now and gather texts written in Omni.

Do you like the idea of the Wiki?

How are you with the idea of restarting the project? That's what I'm going for... but honestly, all I want is to see Omni be spoken. (written?) :D

I like the idea. Since Omni is supposed to be open source, a Wiki is a great idea. I don't like the fact that I can't figure out how to sign up, though

I don't know. Maybe the simpler parts, or fundamental concepts such as the current phonology, syntax, verb conjugation. Of course, everything could be changed if voted so, but changes should first be proposed and thought on. If they get use, or if we can demonstrate usefulness it could join the core. But we should try to keep the core simple, concise and precise.

I think it is better to act on what we have. Starting this kind of project is the most difficult part and, even not remembering it to great extent, I recall liking what I was seeing in terms of development.

We could start building now, start suggesting, and we'll keep on with the flow, find what's already there if someone got a copy or start off again if no one has one. And changing things as we think.

I too want to get Omni spoken, that's one of the things I'm mostly hoping for. I'll might make a recording of your poem and present it as current Omni, could put it up the Wiki.

Great!

I thought it was only making an account, I didn't realized I had to enable membership.

I'm enabling it right now and I'll post how to become a member later. I've already posted some content and I'll link it afterwards too.

There it is. One should need to click at 'How to become a member', then on 'Create new account'. One can then apply to membership and I'll have it approved. Eventually anyone will be able to grant membership, in such a way that anyone who knows someone inside might enter.

On the 'Recent changes' menu, there are the last posted and edited articles, of which I'll link two that are non-stylized non-spaced (Sorry, ctrl+v from PDF) texts linked earlier on the thread.

That's just to have a start:

We should have a standard system of gloss. I'm having trouble understanding yours, adelgado.
