Uselessness?! I must disagree. Conlanging is both an art and an academic endeavor. Are these things useless pursuits as well?

Conlangs (specifically IALs) are useless in the sense that they fall far sort of their goal as a medium of communication. But I have no problem with creating them solely for enjoyment. It's not my proverbial cup of tea but there are probably worse ways to pass one's time.
