I just got the idea while listening to a feature on NPR. This girl speaks English
words backwards in sentences, but does not reverse English word order itself.
Just a creativity spike from a random source of inspiration.

Now I wonder how you do that with tonal languages..

He, interesting question! Had never thougt of it before. Since my mother tounge, Swedish, has a tonal quality I tried this out. And I don't revert the tone. I say it the way it sounds the best as if I spoke frontwards. I don't know how a lang like chinese would act, though.

are being pronounced the same backwards, at least by me. It is different tones frontwards, though.

When I was a child I had a quite developed conlang with a big amount of vocabulary from backward Spanish words and invented grammar. It wasn't too imaginative, but sounded weird, which is what I wanted xD.

Sorry for being so dumbheaded, but why do people invent conlangs in the first place?

Well, people work because they're looking for monetary income, in order to sustain themselves... The complete uselessness of conlanging can't be dismissed, which is what makes me admire those that have succeeded in getting far with them.

Conlangs aren't useless: they train the linguistic part of your mind. It lets you more easily recognize grammatical structures, and it also opens up an opportunity for learning new vocabulary such as "genitive" and "gerund". Yes, I know that the mentioned terms I just mentioned seem quite childish, but a lot of Anglophones that I know have no idea that their English language sports these features.

And you could argue that music is useless the same way as conlangs. Music is something that a lot of people could generally live without, but nonetheless, it helps the brain think more logically by organizing the notes into patterns and interpreting them, and it just sounds nice. Same with conlangs. It may be obscure, but it is still a fine art nonetheless.

Just my two cents.

There was a book I read as a kid that had one "secret language" that was actually just backwards words.

Forgot what it was though.
