And that's the current state of the project.

Comments are appreciated. I will continue to develop the language.

A correction to phonology:

I listed as glottal fricatives /x/ and /H/.

The proper listing should be /H/ as an unvoiced epiglottal fricative and /h/ as a glottal fricative.

Unfortunately, a hard drive crash has wiped out my records of Experimental Conlang A. I will be reconstructing the grammar and phonology from this thread. The lexicon and corpus will need to be rebuilt.

Status of Recovery:

The phonolgiocal and grammatical notes have been recovered. The lexicon and corpus are lost and will need to be re-created. I will treat prior posts as canonical, except that I noticed that I had failed to epenthesize glottal stops where appropriate in a series of samples. These have been inserted in my notes, and future posts will reflect the correction.

I'm still working on the reconstruction, but I have observed that my grammar appears to imply a syntax transitioning from SVO to SOV.

Wow! My congradulations that you're going to attempt to rebuild this conlang (from the thread no less)! I'm the rype of person to get slightly depressed at the loss, then start over again.... I woukd think rebuilding is almost more work...

I am happy to report that I located a backup on a drive I wasn't expecting and completed the reconstruction.

I found a few mistakes in the original description.

Corrections and clarifications:

From Jun 11, 2011 2:19 pm:

t-iʔ- tυm-bal should be t-iʔ- tυm-bal-ap-a (neut.-pl.- wood-compos.-fem-sing.).

In several posts, the telicity particle [sun] is described as "completed motion." A clarification is in order. The particle denotes telicity, but is only used in reference to physical motion.

Appositives:

Appositives are ordered according to topical significance, If not used for vocative purpose, the
appositives share case markers. Reinforcing prefixes are used except after a vocative.

klaud-að-a-ðata-st
Claudius-masc.-sing.-refl.-nom.

θ- eʔ-stεff-a-θata-st
masc.-sing.-1st masc, -sing.-refl.-nom.

θ- eʔ-tau-ɹo:m-atw-i-gɹ
masc.-sing.-orig.-Rome-neut.-pl.-gen.

lo:dd^m-aθ-a-st
emperor-masc.-sing.-acc,

se-ŋ-iva-pɹai
to be (1st sing., masc.)-pres.-hab.-partic.

I, Claudius, am emperor of the Romans. (Emphasis on “I.”)

stεff-a-θata-st
1st masc, -sing.-refl.-nom.

θ- eʔ-klaud-að-a-ðata-st
masc.-sing.-Claudius-masc.-sing.-refl.-nom

θ- eʔ-tau-ɹo:m-atw-i-gɹ
masc.-sing.-orig.-Rome-neut.-pl.-gen.

lo:dd^m-aθ-a-st
emperor-masc.-sing.-acc,

se-ŋ-iva-pɹai
to be (1st sing., masc.)-pres.-hab.-partic.

I, Claudius, am emperor of the Romans. (Emphasis on “Claudius.”)

klaud-að-a-mai
Claudius-masc.-sing.-voc,

stεff-a-θata-st
1st masc, -sing.-refl.-nom.

θ- eʔ-tau-ɹo:m-atw-i-gɹ
masc.-sing.-orig.-Rome-neut.-pl.-gen.

lo:dd^m-aθ-a-st
emperor-masc.-sing.-acc.

se-ŋ-iva-pɹai
to be (1st sing., masc.)-pres.-hab.-partic.

Claudius, I am emperor of the Romans.

This sample also introduces [tau-] as a productive prefix denoting origin, nationality, and similar concepts.

Another correction to phonology:

I have used <H>, <x>, and <h>, and as all of them feature in grammar words and affixes, they stay.
