What bullshit. You've really outdone yourself with this thread, I've never seen such anti-Greek sentiment from a non-FYROMian Slav.

Here's a fun quote from the interview you posted:

Quote:
Yes. The Greek government is effectively carrying out ‘linguicide’ on the Macedonians of Greece.

I thought most "Macedonians of Greece" only spoke Greek? Isn't he referring to inhabitants of the region of Macedonia, who've had their own regional affiliation since before Slavs came to the Balkans? No, he's talking about FYROMians, great. That's not a biased view at all. He didn't even feel like including the word "Slavs." One of my ancestors was a Macedonian (Greek). He lived before FYROM was created but I guess he shouldn't have been allowed to call himself a Macedonian because it would offend some delusional Bulgarians.

If there only were such thing as "FYROMian Slavs".

Anyway, you're going on my ignore list so I won't be able to see any of your posts.

In Greece, the minute you express a view you get stuck with a label (e.g. supporter of the West), and, subsequently, anything you say is considered more or less predictable. The supporters of your group will automatically agree with you, while those on the opposite side will disagree, without even knowing what you said. A Panathinaikos fan will never discuss the views of an Olympiakos supporter. As a result, there's never any real dialogue. What with all the slogans, the labels, and the stereotypes, the intellectual scene is coming to seem more and more like a soccer stadium.

He calls Greece a barbaric country and brings up the Macedonian problem, I represent the opposite view and he ignores me. He's obviously just preaching here to anyone who'll listen :P

I always thought Greece was a western country and one of the foundations of it. Isn't it?

The link I gave to Sobekhotep gives some good examples of how Greeks see the Western World. When Westerners talk about Europe they see Greece as an integral part of it. When Greeks speak of Europe they don't see Greece as a part of it.

I'm open to discussion to anyone who acknowledges Greece's problems and who recognizes the self-identification of the Macedonian people. I will not discuss with anyone who does not so. But I didn't feel like discussing in the first place. I started this topic just to bring peoples attention to the existence of those issues. Somehow I got myself into explaining it all when I expected others to do the research themselves.

That applies to Americans as well, and pretty much every country. Setting yourself up as an extremist means hating the Establishment by default.
