HieroNote is a package for studying the Ancient Egyptian language of which, includes a Hieroglyphic word processor for typing the Egyptian Hierogyphs. Unfortunately, this package is not free nor is it a shareware; nevertheless, its cost is cheap and worth the features. However, such is just my own personal opinion and, each man to his own meat.

I've always used and loved Jsesh, which is open source and runs on Linux.
