Since when did animals have rights?
I don't drink milk anyway since I'm lactose-intolerant. I don't eat eggs, either. Just don't like 'em.

And I also advise you to watch this video:

I watched for like 20 minutes maybe a year and a half ago and still see vivid images and an urge to cry.

The idea that a mere animal should be treated as a social equal to a human being is absolutely preposterous to me.

Well you're far from the sharpest tool in the shed as far as I'm concerned. If you cannot understand why animals have rights... well, let me put it this way: if your mother was brain-dead is it moral for me to eat her?

No, because she is human. Can you really not keep humans and animals separated? Then you're far from the sharpest tool in the box.

Just because she is brain dead she doesn't turn into a cheeseburger or a roast chicken.

Also about my use of folk logic, you admitted that the chicken probably wouldn't care but that it is still theft. Does it matter if the theft doesn't cause harm? Also, even though plants and trees don't care is it right to steal their produce and fruit? Plants can't give you things willingly, so by your logic it is stealing. I mean sure they are less than animals but a plant would be more responsive than say a brain dead person.

And I still really don't care if someone is a vegetarian.

The Old Testament had harsh penalties for people who treayted animals badly. We were supposed to protect and respect them.

No, because she is human.

Exactly. Human > animal. Always.

Good point.

I'm not saying that we should treat animals badly or that it's OK to do so. I just don't think we should treat them as if they're equal to human beings.
