I am extremely neurotic about music organization. I try to make it as "native" as possible, and only in extreme cases do I Romanize. For instance, I downloaded a cool Khmer rap, and since my iPod can't support Khmer (I don't think so at least) I spent a week trying to learn the Khmer script to decipher the Khmer name for the song. Then I had to come up with a good, phonetic Romanization system.

I usually prefer the native language names for Asian songs over English names. For instance, the Epik High song "Umbrella" has a second, Korean name "우산." Despite being much less known, I still use that on my iPod.

I have a directory called Muziko (my Linux desktop is all in Esperanto now ), and I have sub-genres of music in their individual directories, and always bands in their own, but I'm not that obsessive about it. My BOOKS on the other hand...I have an entire room devoted to my books. It'll take years to describe the organization for my books

I know how you feel... I tried organizing my two shelves of books by alphabet and that took me a week. Can't quite imagine how the first librarians did it.

Khmer rap? Is it Cambodian production or made by overseas Khmer?

I think it was Cambodian. It was about Khmer pride, though, so I'm not sure.

I just happened to stumble upon it while watching YouTube documentaries about the Angkor Empire

There is a noticeable Hmong community here in Wisconsin and I had many Hmong friends in high school. As a result, I've been well exposed to Hmong hip hop.
