...I have worked professionally as a tutor for ten months at a local middle school for Americorps in the AVID program. In high school I volunteered with Northwest Leadership Foundation in their Mentor253 for nine months at a middle school as well. I am currently working getting my associates in English from Tacoma Community College.

...It gave me a knack for connecting with kids on a personal level because we could talk about popular music and videos. It also enabled me to take math problems, reveal the big picture, and break down those problems into easy to understand pieces so kids could understand what's up! I became a popular sub in three school districts and a private school around my Indiana college town.
