My credential is in mathematics, science and English, so I have a broad base of knowledge in most academic subjects. I have been tutoring students to prepare to take other tests, such as the SATs, the GRE and the GMAT.

...The intention of placing a student in Prealgebra is to strengthen computational skills and the basic mechanics of solving/simplifying before taking a more rigorous Algebra 1 course. Since these are generally middle school aged students I am more likely to use manipulatives and game based activities to strengthen number fluency. This is also a good level to teach some basic math study skills.

...I come from a family full of minister and my step father is also a minister. This has taught me to study the Bible on my own while also conducting small Bible lessons with people surrounding me. I was a substitute teacher for Spectrum Center where I worked with kids who had autism.

...I take only 2 classes per semester so my time is open. I will be taking some early childhood education classes in the 2013 school year. My goal has always been to work in law enforcement possibly getting in to juvenile services.

...I use Lindamood-Bell LiPS, Barton Reading & Spelling, and Wilson Reading. The curriculum is specific for those with dyslexia but is effective for others as well. It is critical that students learn to read by 3rd grade because at that time there is a paradigm shift from learning to read to reading to learn.
