...Rather than having students memorize endless words, I prefer to teach roots, prefixes, and suffixes so that students get an appreciation for the origins of our language. I truly enjoy teaching grammar, a crucial area that I feel most middle and high school curriculums ignore all too hastily. Critical reading is a difficult area for a lot of students, but it is one of my favorites.
