My name is Anna M.and I have been teaching languages for the past 20 years plus. Before moving to Phoenix, I was a part-time substitute interpreter at the U.N. I grew up in Italy speaking Italian, lived in France, Spain and Argentina where I attended school and learned to speak the languages.

...Phonics and decoding are essential, so I evaluate student progress first and patiently listen and encourage success in reading, focusing on phonemic awareness, beginning and ending sounds, word families, phonics, prefixes, suffixes, and chunking. The adage rings true that first students learn to read and then read to learn. The possibilities are endless.
