I used to teach in Arlington, VA and am familiar with the Virginia social studies curriculum and SOL format. I have extensive experience teaching English as a second language and I've taught students in Spain, Korea, and France.

...We read both prose and poetry - from Livy to Cicero to Catullus, Horace, and best of all Vergil. My goal is to make students comfortable with all the nuances of learning a foreign language, even an ancient one. A great part of this is to make connections between the ancient and modern worlds.

TOEFL is based on the Classical Greek foundation of arguments. Whether it's Listening, Reading, Speaking, or Writing an argument is present formally or informally.
