I am a certified teacher of English, French, Latin, and Spanish, and a native speaker of Italian. I have taught and or tutored all of these languages since 1952. Italian was the first foreign language that I learned, starting at the age of six, as the language we spoke at home was Sicilian.

I have worked with many students with learning differences. I have a BA and two MA's in Classics, with over 7 years' experience studying Ancient Greek.

...My language exams were in Latin. My reading during this time and up to the present has been extensive, including Catullus, Ovid, Vergil, Cato the Elder, Cicero, Pliny (both Elder and Younger), Sallust, Suetonius, Tacitus, and Augustus. Additionally, I have also privately tutored Latin at the high school and college levels since 2008.

...I am also in graduate school working towards teacher certification in secondary English. I love helping young people develop the literacy skills they need to succeed in high school and beyond, and I am particularly adept at working with students on their writing. I especially love helping students write and polish their personal statements for college applications.
