...From my own experience, I've found that praise for progress is far more effective than reprimanding for mistakes, so I subscribe to this philosophy when teaching others. One caveat is that I will be traveling quite a bit for medical school interviews this fall. As a result, remote tutoring (via Skype or email for SAT writing) may be the best option for me at this time.

...As a person, I am very relaxed and friendly. Although I am easygoing, I expect 100% effort from my students while we are working together. English is learned best when the learner is relaxed and not nervous, so I feel very strongly about having a relaxed atmosphere.
