I also tutor and teach how to take the test, giving students tips on how to approach the test and familiarize them with test questions. ...Phonics involves the ability to sound out words by using a literacy method such as Open Court. This program emphasizes, letter, sound, picture for all short vowel, consonants, long vowels and some silent ones such as boat. When I taught kindergarten we also used big books with rhymes to reenforce these letter sounds.
