...In this instance, I found it most effective to allow her to work out problems on her own so that I could identify where the problem was. As I worked with her, it was obvious she struggled with Algebra, but the real issue was her misunderstanding of negative numbers. Once that was discovered we were able to focus in on the real problem, which sturdied her foundation for future learning.
