...They may be talented in one area, but lack basic skills in another. The secret is, if you find out what are they are preoccupied with, you can use it for teaching them any skills. The lesson routine has to be extremely structured and predictable.

...I would like for the students to not only understand how to solve the problem but to be able to do it efficiently and thoroughly. I look for students to set aside a consistent schedule to work on assignments, turn them in on time and be able to take tests and quizzes with confidence. I also teach the students to keep organized notes and materials on important points relevant to the subject.
