...Science can be fun and creative at an early age. The subject caught my attention very early with a teacher who did fun demonstrations, while teaching us classic concepts. Sometimes students need help making a connection between the visual demonstration and the concrete concept.

...The content of the text must be integrated into the process or the sounding out is meaningless to him or her. Young readers can be overwhelmed by the number of phonics rules that some programs require to be memorized, but most can be grouped into a few manageable concepts. When those are mastered, reading generally becomes a joy rather than a chore.
