...After spending 2 years taking Japanese classes at the University of La Verne, I spent a year studying abroad at Hokusei Gakuen University in Sapporo, Japan. During that time, I took intensive Japanese courses while simultaneously living with a home stay family. After returning to the US, I was able to pass level 3 of the Japanese Proficiency Test in 1998.
