Hmmm, sub-Saharan Africa… with L and H tones (as expected for the region) but with uvular consonants (not expected)… I’m already stumped. Let’s go crazy and guess the Iraqw language of Tanzania?
I agree with the sub-Saharan Africa part, and will only add that 1) I can’t hear any similarity with the little Swahili I know, so I’ll make a big leap to non-Bantu, and 2) I wouldn’t be surprised if there was French (colonial) influence.
The answer is Kaba (Sara Kaba), Nilo-Saharan language spoken in Central African Republic and Chad.
