Cuba
Tomorrow I’m off to Cuba for a two-week holiday, so there probably won’t be any more posts on this blog until I get back next year. I’m going on a tour with a small group and will be travelling all over the island and visiting such places as Havana, Trinidad, Camaguey and Santiago de Cuba, where I’ll be on Christmas Day.
¡Hasta luego!

I’m feeling the pressure here to say “Have a good trip” in another language.

Josh & Werstan: just wondering, what language are you using.
TJ on 24 Dec 2006 at 10:40 am #
BG: It is some where in Eastern Europe …… I think they are using Czech :)
….. or could be Slovak of course! :)

Thanks, it kind of seemed like that to me, but I wasn’t sure.

BG- The language we’re using has a couple of names but the “standard” form is called Ostic. It was constructed about 5 years ago and used in a fanfiction thread of a forum that no longer exists. I’m using the standard dialect and Werstan is using what I think is cyllesian. There are at least 30-50 people that I knew of who used it regularly. It’s changed so much from it’s original form that it looks really authentic- and the pronunciation is so relaxed now that it sounds like a real language too.
The last thing that Werstan asked was “Why isn’t there a chatting-forum here?” I think it would be a great idea.

Cool, any link to a page which describes the language?

Rmss, Ba net widla… vi dru dunrum. Driiba i zhivo-PDF wige informazoúm, ní vritizhi ri-zhizhil.
(I can’t find it… it’s been so long. Maybe I have a PDF file with the information on it, but I would have to look for it)
Literally: Rmss, can not to find… make too much time ago. Maybe have file-PDF with information, but I would must it to search for.

If you could, that would make me REALLY happy :-). How did you learned it?

This is a little late, but this is “Merry Christmas” in my conlang, Aramansch: Sakanod Mischachmegdeftes!
Incidentally, there is a Hebrew loanword in there–although it’s changed over the centuries since the Aramansch first heard it… ;-)
