...My mother, some of the biological kids, and virtually all of the adopted kids had special needs, ranging from deafness to blindness, autism/aphasia to amputation and burns. Many of the kids had learning disabilities and emotional/psychiatric issues, as well. I never saw them as "disabled people", but as people.

I am currently a teacher of middle school aged children who are deaf or hearing impaired. I teach Reading and Language Arts. I am certified in Special Ed, Deaf and Hard of Hearing, EC-4 (general) and soon Reading/Language Arts (4-8).I enjoy the challenge of helping children get over the hurdles of their education.I keep a positive outlook and have a good sense of humor.
