...In teaching painting, I consider all the design concepts, such as color, value, repetition, line, space, form, draftsmanship and abstract quality as important issues for students to understand. I use as examples many of the well know painters of history. I encourage students to look at a lot of good artwork, and to learn to critique and self-critique.
