...They also forgot to indent at the beginning of a paragraph or when someone speaks (dialogue), and when to capitalize. Maintaining consistent verb tenses and using the grammar of Standard English are other problems I've run across. The younger students I now tutor (first grade)don't know what it means to add detail to their writing.
