The federal Tax Identification Number is the social safety number of an individual or a manager Identification number of a business, whether profit-making or non-profit making. There are totally 16c sections to be filled. It comprises of personal information like address, city, zip code and name and business information such as nature of business, name of business, names of partners, principal officers, type of entity whether sole proprietorship, partnership, corporate etc, including the activities, address, date of incorporation of the business. The second and the fourth section must be filled by the individual who is a businessman and the third and the fifth section must be filled by the non-profit making organizations. The form must be duly signed by the applicant. The form should be written carefully because different lines or sections are applicable to each individual depending upon the type of business. For e.g: If he has newly commenced his business operations he must complete only the 1,2, 4a, 6,8a, 9-1c sections out of 16 sections. He must carefully read the instructions.
