Lewes Delaware

Lewes Delaware is a city incorporated in the Sussex County in the United States of America. According to the estimates of the census bureau, the city of Lewes had a population of 3,116 people in the year 2006. Lewes was the first town that was found in the state of Delaware. And, as Delaware was also the first state to sign the constitution of the United States of America, the town is referred to as The First Town in the First State. Along with Dewey Beach, South Bethany, Rehoboth Beach and the Fenwick Island, Lewes comprises the beach resort region of Delaware and, is one of the most densely populated and fast growing areas in Sussex County.

Features of Lewes Delaware:

Lewes is the terminus to the south of Cape May-Lewes ferry. It is adjacent to the Cape Henlopen state park and is also, close to Rehoboth Beach outlet malls. The branch of the coast line railway of Delaware originating in Georgetown is served by Lewes. Lewes is a popular hangout for the residents of northern Delaware, the New Castle County in particular. The city of Lewes is considered as an ocean resort, even though it sits on the Delaware Bay at the lower end. The town of Lewes also houses the Zwaanendael Museum, featuring the exhibits of the history of Delaware. The main street of the town having the various shops, historical venues and restaurants is called as the second street. The Fishermans Wharf is also a dock that has multiple restaurants, hundreds of boats for looking all over and bait shops. It stretches along the Rehoboth Canal and Lewes. The lightship over-falls is berthed here.

The Lewes farmers market is historic in nature. It is a community based non-profit market of farmers. It is the most successful and largest markets in the state of Delaware. The Lewes farmers market runs from the 9th of June to the 29th of September between 8.00 am and 12.00 pm on every Saturday. The Lewes farmers market is held at the historical society complex of Lewes, 110 Ship Carpenter Street. The Lewes farmers market also lineaments the demonstrations of the recipes of the local chefs, who use the food from the market in order to prepare them . The market also holds workshops by sustainable experts on agriculture and the master gardeners.
