Apply for student loan early, just after you have applied for courses in colleges. Apart from loan and loan grants from government you can also ask for the scholarship from your college.

To apply for student loan:

If students are applying for the loan in university, students generally depend on course time:

Part time course.

Full time course.

Taking short term courses.

Taking Open University course.

How to apply loans for full time course:

You should forward your application for loan as soon as you apply for course. The strategy is if you are applying to government for loan, do not waist till your seat is confirmed in the university, simply apply by mentioning which course you want to join. You must inform your local in charge person if your course changes after you apply.

Student finance applications for 2007/2008:

To ensure payment at the start of the 2007 autumn term:

you must apply for student finance by 29 June 2007

If you want to apply student loan for tuition fee, for that you need to supply no financial information:

you must apply for student finance by 27 April

If you apply on these dates your application will be processed as quickly.

You will need to make a new application for help each year.

To complete your application:

To apply for the loan you have to supply some paper proofs of your details. You can also apply for the help if you have little children or any other dependents, or there is a option for disability also.

Want to apply for the scholarship in full time course.

You can also apply for the scholarship from the place of study, this facility is different form the other facilities you are availing. You have to appear to give exam for scholarship, if you will qualify the exam then you can get the scholarship. You should apply for the scholarship as soon as you have confirmed place in the course you have opted.

Your application will be handled:

1. In Student Finance Direct, who administesr the scholarship programme on behalf of several universities and colleges in the UK. or

2. In your university.

You have to check with your university or college who handles at your place all the scholarship programme.

Part Time Course:

Part time student apply for the loan and grants every year of the course, but important thing is that you have to attend a course for two weeks to get acceptance for the loan. You have to show in your form that you are a student of this University, how important your course is,what exactly course fees are to get acceptance of the loan. When the form is complete send it to local authority.

Short Term Courses:

Application process is different for the courses for open university or for the short term course. There you have to follow application process according to the specific university rules, so it varies from college to college.
