We are wrapping up the first phase of our project in the next one month. We have a lot of writing to do. Though I had put together the basic things for the report, how to form a llc? I had not been able to give it a final shape for quite some time. I knew it required at least 5 hours of uninterrupted time, which is difficult while working from office. I was not sure if working from home would help in any manner.
While discussing the various reports we needed to compile during the next one month, my boss suggested that I work from home for some days in a week, if I desired. I grabbed the suggestion with both hands. In the past one month commuting to office, especially returning home (over 40 km away) from work has become quite arduous due to the mad traffic during the evening peak hours. I needed some mental preparations for the challenge I had accepted. First was to give no let up in getting up from the bed. After my daily routine, which I carried out very leisurely (because I had on hand an extra 80 min that I spend daily in getting to my work place) got ready by 0800 h and sat in front of my computer as if I were in my office.
The first two hours were very productive. No phone calls, no meetings, no visitors. It was breakfast time. With a cup of coffee I had the luxury of watching the repeat headlines on the breakfast news on a weekday. A well deserved break.
The next 2 and half hours were very crucial. The work really progressed well. By lunchtime I was almost done with my days work. Savored again the luxury of the home meal followed by a leisurely browsing of the days newspaper. I hardly get a chance to look at the newspaper with out it getting at least 5 days old! By then the heaviness of the home meal made me drowsy. I could not help but oblige the 30 min nap that followed.
Evening tea followed another round of look at my days, err half days work and its editing and formatting. At 6 in the evening I headed
off with a book to my favorite spot, the nearby park adjacent to the Vinayaka temple in my neighborhood. The park was unusually noisy due to crowd that had gathered around the Ganesh pandal for the evening Pooja. The park was littered with leaf plates that were strewn all over by the devotees after eating Prasadam served earlier. More crowds, more littering, more noise. Not the usual place where I read pages after pages in silence. I could not move ahead with my reading. I got up and picked up a polythene carry bag how to form a llc that lay littered on the lawn and started collecting all the litter in it. I got a lot of it. Many devotees saw a jeans-T shirt clad person doing the cleaning with a sense of unease. None joined. A cute young boy picked up some litter and released it in my poly bag. It was a good physical and spiritual exercise for me. After a long time I felt one with myself. While I was busy collecting the litter, an elderly person asked why I was doing what I was doing. Asked if it was my seva to the Ganesh. I just smiled and continued. I could collect at the end a lot of trash in two large carry bags. Left the temple gate with the two bags heavily filled with trash and a light body and mind. I was delighted. I had spent the day differently.
This has been a real learning experience for me. To say the least, I have certainly been challenged - making use of time in an effective way. One positive benefit is the time I spent with the members of the family and interacting with them for writing up the project, has proven to be an excellent time for introspection and balance. This was not only fun and enjoyable, but also invigorating, how to form a llc rewarding and an enriching experience. The high level of creative energy among the family members, as well as their personal pride in being a part of this write up, was obvious and very gratifying to see. I am honoured that my boss has given me this opportunity to "work from home" which is advantageous and helpful.
