London stock market share prices
The seeds of trading in shares were first sowed in England in the 17th century as a result of two voyages. The Muscovy Company and the East India Company wanted to reach China and India respectively. However, realising that they didnt have the required funds to fund their ambitious plans, they decided to raise the funds by selling shares to merchants. This gave the merchants a stake in the profits made by the companies and paved the way for joint stock companies.By 1695 there were 140 joint stock companies.
